Women of the World believes in gathering new perspectives and ideas to improve our services and the WoW Internship Program is a vital part of that process! While every internship is themed around a specific business or operational need, WoW staff is willing to work with interns to make sure that their time with us leaves a lasting impression on the office and the intern.

Economic Empowerment Intern
Women of the World is an internationally recognized nonprofit with over a decade of experience empowering refugee and immigrant women in Utah. WoW’s Employment Partnership Program builds on our mission to empower women from all nations to achieve independence, economic success, and a voice in the community by connecting women to beneficial employment opportunities in Utah. The internship will contribute to the Program’s initiatives by researching and expanding upon the career opportunities available to our clients through partnership maintenance and development. As the Economic Empowerment Intern, you will gain meaningful professional experience working in an international setting – right here in Utah. Furthermore, you will be contributing to one of the most influential steps towards independence and self-reliance for our new neighbors.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and update employment database on potential partners and career development opportunities in the community
-
Reach out and engage with businesses in the community to establish partnerships
-
Develop client summaries for established partners
-
Maintain positive relationships with established partners
-
Monitor partnership levels and develop advocacy incentives
-
Assist Case Managers in client resume creation and job preparation as necessary
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
-
Studying for (or have received) Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Studies, Political Science, Gender Studies, or related field
-
Professional interest in business partnerships, community development, nonprofit development, economic empowerment, public policy, or women’s advocacy
-
Experience using database management systems and Microsoft Office Programs
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
-
Ability to work independently and with a team
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
-
Experience developing business and community partnerships
-
Knowledge of Spanish, French, or Arabic
-
3.0 GPA or higher
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
All internships are unpaid, however, WoW is willing to work with academic institutions to meet stipend or course credit requirements. The internship hours are flexible with a maximum expected time commitment of 15 hours per week. WoW understands and is willing to work with students’ schedules within the scope of each internship term. Women of the World is an equal opportunity employer.

Social Media Intern
Women of the World is an internationally recognized nonprofit with over a decade of experience empowering refugee and immigrant women in Utah. Having an effective social media strategy helps us effectively our mission to empower women from all nations to achieve independence, economic success, and a voice in the community by connecting women to beneficial employment opportunities in Utah.
This internship will provide direct, hands-on experience building and implementing a social media strategy. As the Social Media Intern, you will be working with a large network of refugee-serving organizations and philanthropic missions across the state and the nation to educate and inform!
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(Can vary based on interests and skills)

Research nonprofit marketing strategies

Develop a 1-year social media strategy

Analyze and monitor the website, newsletter, and social media traffic to determine optimal posting times and content
-
Create and curate a back-log of content for future use
-
Update WoW Signage, promotional materials, and slide decks
-
Produce a monthly memo for WoW management to evaluate the effectiveness and propose strategy changes
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Studying for (or have received) Bachelor’s Degree in Business, International Studies, Statistics, Graphic Design, Marketing, English, or related fields

A professional interest in community partnerships, community development, nonprofit development, public policy, or women’s advocacy

Office Admin Intern
Women of the World is an internationally recognized nonprofit with over a decade of experience empowering refugee and immigrant women in Utah. Over the course of a year, hundreds of women and their families are impacted directly by our services. We are looking for an intern to help us in every facet of the daily operations of the organization. By ensuring that daily operations are running efficiently and effectively, our interns will directly contribute to creating an environment where clients can feel welcomed, loved, and empowered.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(Can vary based on interests and skills)

Answer phones and record messages
-
Update promotional materials, slide decks, and monitor website inquiries.

Work directly with the Office Manager and Case Manager on database management and maintenance
-
Assist in the creation of documentation needed to train new staff, volunteers, and management
-
Produce a monthly memo for WoW management on progress and challenges
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Studying for (or have received) Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Management, International Studies, Statistics, Data Managment, Marketing, English, or related fields

A professional interest in community partnerships, community development, nonprofit development, public policy, or women’s advocacy

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work independently and with a team
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working with databases (Salesforce in particular)
