Pook Carson

Pook Carson has spent the last fourteen years helping people from a variety of backgrounds lift themselves up as a Professor of Business Management at Salt Lake Community College and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Utah. At Salt Lake Community College, she has been honored to receive both the Teaching Excellence Award and the Outstanding Publishing Award. Prior to returning to Salt Lake City, Pook was a member of the Business faculty at the State University of New York. She has also taught at Brigham Young University and Westminster College. Pook holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah.

 

Before starting her career in education, she worked for Sumitomo Mitsui, a multinational Japanese bank. In addition to her involvement with Women of the World, Pook serves on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, where she has received the Board Member Recognition Award, the Utah Nonprofits Association, where she is a member of the executive committee, and the Columbus Adult Education Center, where she is President of the Advisory Board overseeing the Center’s work with refugee and immigrant communities. She also was formerly a member of the Board of Directors of Family Promise. Pook grew up in her native Thailand before moving to the United States to pursue her education and career. Pook is passionate about giving back to the community that has given her so much.
