3rd World Living in Utah
Women Of the World volunteers visit families from different countries. One of the apartment for family was full with mold and the carpets for bedrooms were so wet. WoW volunteers contacted the landlord but there was no response from her at first, then the landlord claimed it is the way ‘these immigrants like to live.’ So Women of the World went to the housing authorities and to the health department to help the family. Workshop: Nutrition
Today, Women of the World, in collaboration with Brigham Young University, sponsored a nutrition workshop for women from the Middle East. While the Mediterranean diet has become a successful diet low in fat in the western world, refugees from the region do not always have the ingredients in their transplant communities to accurately represent the native delicacies.
